1. The Short Version
We do not sell your data. We do not track which listings you visit. We do not store your browsing history.
The extension reads Zillow listing pages locally in your browser to display neighborhood data. Only the property address is sent to external APIs to fetch that data — never the full page content, never your browsing history.
If you create an account, we store your email and saved preferences (commute destination, budget inputs) to make the service work. That is it.
2. What We Collect
Account data
If you create an account, we store your email address and any profile settings you save — including your workplace address for commute calculations and budget inputs (down payment, income, mortgage rate). This data is stored in Supabase and is used solely to personalise your experience.
Local browser storage
The extension stores the following data locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local: your authentication token, Pro status flag, saved preferences, and — for guest users — an anonymous listing view counter and date. None of this is accessible to any website you visit.
No browsing history
We do not collect, store, or transmit which Zillow listings you view, your search history, or any other browsing activity.
3. How the Chrome Extension Works
What stays in your browser
The extension reads the Zillow listing page to extract the property address and basic listing details (price, bedrooms, year built). This reading happens locally. The raw page HTML is never sent to our servers or any third party.
What leaves your browser
The extracted property address and coordinates are sent to external APIs to fetch neighborhood data — commute times, safety scores, nearby places, water quality, census demographics, and noise levels. These requests are routed through our server to protect API keys. The address is used to fetch the data and is not stored on our servers.
AI agent
When you use the AI agent, structured listing details (address, price, specs, and neighborhood context already fetched) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your answer. No raw page content or personally identifiable information is included in this request.
4. Third Parties We Share Data With
HomeLens uses the following third-party services to deliver its features. We do not sell data to any of these parties and data is shared only to the extent necessary to provide the relevant feature.
Supabase
Privacy policy ↗User authentication and storage of account data (email, saved preferences). Data is stored in Supabase's US-based infrastructure.
Google Maps & Places API
Privacy policy ↗The listing address is sent to Google to calculate peak-hour commute times and find nearby places (grocery, gym, school, pharmacy). Google's standard API terms apply.
Anthropic (Claude)
Privacy policy ↗Structured listing details are sent to Anthropic's Claude API when you use the AI agent feature to answer questions about the listing or area.
Environmental Working Group (EWG)
Privacy policy ↗The listing ZIP code is sent to EWG to retrieve local tap water quality data.
CrimeGrade.org
Privacy policy ↗The listing location is sent to CrimeGrade to retrieve the local crime grade and breakdown by category.
Census Reporter (US Census Bureau data)
Privacy policy ↗The listing ZIP code is sent to Census Reporter to retrieve demographic data (income, renter vs. owner ratio, age) sourced from the US Census Bureau ACS.
PostHog
Privacy policy ↗Anonymous product analytics to track feature usage and errors. No personally identifiable information, listing URLs, or browsing history is included in analytics events.
5. Data Retention
Account data (email, saved preferences) is retained until you request deletion of your account.
Property addresses sent to external APIs during a session are not stored on our servers after the request completes.
Local browser storage (auth token, preferences, guest view counter) is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the extension.
6. Your Rights
Access. You can view and update your saved preferences at any time from your profile in the HomeLens dashboard.
Deletion. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, email us at homelenshelp@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account". We will action this within 7 business days.
Opt out of analytics. Anonymous analytics can be disabled by uninstalling the extension. We do not offer a separate opt-out toggle at this time.
7. Security
Account data is stored securely via Supabase with encryption at rest. API keys for all third-party services are stored server-side and are never exposed to the browser or included in the extension package.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of HomeLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
