How do I install HomeLens?
Search for "HomeLens" in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". Once installed, open any Zillow listing page — the widget appears automatically. No setup required.
Does HomeLens require an account?
No account is needed to get started. You can view up to 5 listings as a guest. Creating a free account gives you 25 listings per day and access to features like saved commute and budget settings.
Which websites does HomeLens work on?
HomeLens currently works on Zillow listing pages. Redfin support is coming soon.
Is HomeLens free?
Yes. The free tier gives you 25 listing views per day. A Pro plan is available for unlimited access and additional features.
How do I set my commute destination?
Go to your Dashboard → Profile and enter your workplace address. HomeLens will use this to calculate peak-hour commute times on every listing you view.
Where does the crime data come from?
Crime data is sourced from publicly available local law enforcement and aggregated crime reporting databases. It is updated periodically and reflects incident rates per 100,000 residents.
Where does the neighborhood demographic data come from?
Demographic data — including income, age, and renter vs. owner ratios — is sourced from the US Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS 5-year estimates).
How is the budget estimate calculated?
HomeLens estimates your monthly cost using your down payment, current mortgage rates, property tax rates by ZIP code, estimated insurance, and local utility costs. Set your financial profile in Dashboard → Profile for accurate results.
What powers the AI agent?
The AI agent is powered by Claude (by Anthropic). It has context about the listing, neighborhood data, and nearby places — so it can answer specific questions about the home and area.
How accurate is the noise data?
Noise levels are based on environmental noise models from the US Department of Transportation and local traffic data. They represent typical daytime noise levels and may not reflect short-term events.
The widget is not appearing on Zillow. What should I do?
First, make sure you are on an individual listing page (not a search results page). Try refreshing the page. If it still does not appear, click the HomeLens icon in your Chrome toolbar to check the extension status. Disabling and re-enabling the extension can also help.
Some data shows "Could not load". Why?
This usually means the data service for that section is temporarily unavailable or the listing address could not be resolved. Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists for more than a day, contact us at homelenshelp@gmail.com.
My commute data looks wrong.
Make sure your workplace address is set correctly in Dashboard → Profile. Commute times are calculated for peak hours (Monday 8 AM) and may differ from off-peak Google Maps results.
I hit my listing limit. How do I get more?
Create a free account to get 25 listing views per day. If you need unlimited access, upgrade to Pro from the Pricing page.
The extension is slowing down my browser.
HomeLens only activates on Zillow listing pages. If you notice performance issues, try disabling other extensions to identify conflicts, or contact us and we will investigate.
What data does HomeLens collect?
HomeLens does not collect or store the listing pages you visit. Your profile settings (commute address, budget inputs) are stored securely and used only to personalise your results. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at homelenshelp@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" and we will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 7 business days.
